1 month

tomorrow Rosie will be 1 month old. Her gestation age is 28 weeks. She is still off the vent. And still has had no spells (where she forgets to breathe) Her scar from her surgery is healing well. Shes sucking on her pacifier very well. Her lungs are a little hazy so her vapotherm is on 6 now instead of 5. If they have to do something different with her breathing then they will put her on a cpap which goes in her nose instead of her throat. Her daddy came and kangarooed with her for the first time.

doing good still

Rosie is doing good she has had no spells since being off her vent. She is eating good and working on growing. Since she is doing so good we are home for the weekend. Back on our way up tomorrow (sat)

Got our car fixed today thankfully. (yes it has broken down twice now since Ive been in Des Moines)

We got our bill for Ronald McDonald house which costs 10.00 a night so we are up to 260.00 now. Just about like paying another months rent on top of the rent for our homes we each have to pay.

So it has been a cosly trip but its worth it. Right now I wouldnt be anywhere else but at Rosies side. I bought her some preemie clothes today. Even they will be big on her. I saw they even have preemie diapers at the store. At the hospital Rosie has micro-preemie diapers.

Rosies pacifier

pictures for the day. No changes Rosie is still doing good.

off the vent

Today is a big day for Rosie! She got off the vent she has all her iv's out and she is now on 13 mils of milk every 3 hours (still through the feeding tube) They are starting her on a pacifier to start her sucking reflex going and she weighs 1.13 oz and is 13 inches long now. She is not the smallest or sickest baby anymore here in the NICU. Lets have a big YAY!!!! Her nurse has 3 other babies today which is a good thing because that means she doesnt have to have as much 1 on 1 care as she has had. Will post pictures later.

Everything is going great for Rosie she is up to 11 mils of milk in her feeding tube every 3 hours. She should be off the vent in the next few days and her pic line is coming out tomorrow. She is up to 1 pound and 11 oz's. She will be at 2 pounds in no time I think. Her scar from her surgery is healing good, it is glued not stitched.

Everything is going good today. Rosie is getting back to her regular feedings and has had good blood gasses today. We stopped in for a minute and planned on going back tonight but my car broke down again and we couldn't make it so we are at the Ronald McDonald house listening to someones alarm clock going off at midnight. It has been beeping for half an hour now guess there is no one in there. Happy happy joy joy. So much for sleeping glad I got my sleeping in when I was home.

3 weeks old

after
before

Yep Rosie is 3 weeks old today. Shes rode in a helicopter had a surgery and is trying to grow, shes been a busy little girl. She is up to 10 mils she has to go without for a day because of the surgery but will be back in no time to that amount. She is still a little passed out from the pain medication and the muscle relaxer. They don't put them under like they would if and adult had a surgery. The anesthesiologist only uses those two things. She had an iv in her head.
