SVT

Sorry I have not updated lately everything has been going fine. Then Rosie had her shots the other day. Now tonight we are going back to Des Moines so Rosie can be monitored for 48 hours for possible SVT (very fast heart)http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ You can learn about a baby that was born with this condition and just received his miracle cure. He heart moniter has been beeping more in the last 2 days then it ever has. In fact it has never went off untill now. I will update more later Nichole and Rosie may ride up there tonight in the ambulance. She will be going back to Mercy.

40 weeks old today

Today Rosie is 40 weeks old in gestational age. Today is also her due date. Shes doing great she weighs almost 7 pounds now about how much she would weigh if she was born this week. She had her eye Dr. appt last week and her ROP is almost normal and not premature she has a follow up visit in a few weeks then she wont need to go back. Everyone is doing good we have all been busy catching up with everything that was neglected while we were gone for 3 months. We want to thank Until Journeys End for sponsoring us and sending a care package and continued correspondence, encouragement, helpfulness and gift cards. We would also like to thank Melanie for her kindness in sending a gas card to us. Thanks to Grahams Foundation for their care package. We would also like to thank again Ronald McDonald House and Mercy NICU staff Docters and nurses for all their support and help. All of these are wonderful foundations and or caring people and worthy of donations. I would also like to thank the readers that left comments and encouragement on here and my Mom who as always goes above and beyond to help out.

Rosie has been home for 4 days now. All is well. She has her first Dr appt tomorrow.

Rosie has been given a coming home date 2 days from now if everything goes ok meaning no spells and she keeps eating. She got her feeding tube out today and her oxygen and monitor will be at the hospital tomorrow morning. Will give an update when we are back at the hospital tonight or tomorrow.

80 days

Rosie is 80 days old now she is still working on eating and growing she will most likely go home on oxygen but she is getting closer to coming home. She is eating "add lib" which just means she can eat from 38 mils to 50 mils its her choice if she eats all 50 she waits 4 hours if she eats less she has to eat in 3 hours. If she does not eat at least the 38 mils then they will put the rest in her feeding tube. She had a room air test to see if they could take off the oxygen and she failed but that wont stop her from going home. She has to eat from her bottle for 48 hours in a row without putting it in the tube before she can go home. She will have a couple of tests to pass like lying flat for 2 days and sitting in a car seat for 2 hours.

I would like to thank some of the people that have been such a help to us like Until Journeys End, The Ronald McDonald House, and the staff at the NICU. Also all our family and Friends who have been there for us through this tough time.

Rosie is doing great she is taking her bottles good. Right now its every other feeding so she doesnt get to worn out. She also got to go to a baby bed. She weighed 4.1 pds last night. Everything is happening fast this week we had to sign up for our CPR class. As that is a requirement for her discharge. So we are getting closer to the big day when she goes home. Thanks for all the nice comments and prayers everyone!!

Rosie is off the vapotherm now the next step is getting in a crib and starting her on a bottle. Then she can think about coming home. Everyone got the sniffles this week so we are trying to stay away from Rosie so we dont get her sick. To my hubby you should check your yahoo tonight for messages.

34 weeks (gestational age)

Rosie is doing good. Shes getting back to her feedings and off the iv. They are trying the vapotherm on 2 again. hope that goes well. She hasnt gained any weight shes at 3.8 still so she hasnt lost any either so thats good. Shes at about half her feeding that she was on.

2 months old

Rosie was 3.8 oz the the other day then she was 3.12 now shes back to 3.8. They tried to turn the vapotherm down then had to turn it all the way up to 4 today because she kept having spells and had to be bagged twice (forced by hand to breathe with the little blue bag) she still has the tube in her throat sucking air out. still no feedings and she was getting a blood transfusion when we left shes had an eventful couple of day Id say. So please remember yours prayers everyone thanks so much,. On a good note all the tests that are back are are normal with no infections anywhere.

Today has not been a very good day for Rosie. She had her immunizations yesterday and has gone down hill since. She had to have a spinal tap she has a tube in her throat to suck out air in her tummy, she had all feedings stopped she has to have a cath put in to test urine, she has an IV now too. Now its wait and see what all the tests show. She is looking a little pale and not very active. I hope everything goes ok. She had about 10 spells in the last 24 hours. Please pray for Rosie to get better. We were going to go home tomorrow because I have a class but now we might wait to see what happens. They have said that it is not because of her immunizations.

Rosie is doing great shes up to 3.8 oz. Shes having 26 mils of food and shes waiting to get her vapo therm turned down to 2 again. It didnt go so well last time so lets pray this time goes better. She cant start to bottle feed until shes off her vapo therm or at least down to 1. She is getting her first shots tomorrow they already got the baby aspirin ready for her.

3.1 pounds

Rosie made her 3 pounds tonight plus 1 ounce, shes growing like a weed! She had a bath tonight. She had a spell yesterday and one today but it had been 3 days since her last spell. Shes doing good though.

Rosie is doing good she is almost 3 pds shes 1 oz away. Shes still got her temp probe off and is keeping her temp good. She is on 3 on her vapotherm still but is down to a spell about every other day. She is wearing clothes now because her heat is off on her bed. She is up to 22 mils on her feedings. She is being swaddled now also. She may be going to a crib in the next couple weeks.

Rosie is still doing great she has had her temp probe off for 2 days now. That regulates her temp and the beds temp. So she is working on keeping her temp even all by herself. She is still at 2.10 pds. She is wearing her own clothes today.

Rosie is doing great tonight she is up to 2 pds and 10 oz. She had a bath and got held by her mom. I helped with the bath tonight. She only had 2 spells all day and they were just little ones. Her blood gasses are good also.

Rosie is doing good shes up to 20 mils of food she is 2.5 pds and shes not having to many spells. She almost got a real bath tonight but her stitches from her pda are not all the way healed she has to wait another week for that.

Rosie is wearing clothes for the first time. She gained her 0unce back so shes at 2.3 again. She had a few spells today not sure why shes doing that.

Grandma (me) got to hold Rosie for the first time today. She is doing good still. No changes, vapotherm still, on 3 tonight she weighed 2.2 pds with no diaper and no cords but her vapotherm tube. She took a little bath again tonight.

30 weeks gestation

Tomorrow Rosie will be 30 weeks old (gestation) She is doing good still. Last night she was 2.3 pounds. Her Mom got to swaddle her and hold her regular for the first time yesterday.

on a side note my 2 1/2 year old grandson pooped it the potty chair last night for the first time woohoo looks like it time to get a potty chair at my house

2 pounds

Rosie made it up to 2 pounds last night. She was down on 2 on her vapotherm but had a few spells so they turned it back up to 3. Shes up to 15 mils of milk (breast milk from her mother not cows milk) it is mixed with special preemie formula, so she can gain weight. Will post some pics later today. Just wanted everyone to know the good news.

Rosie is up to 1.15 pds. She got a book today to keep a record of her NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) stay, with things like when she first came off the vent, her feeding progress,weight, visitors, etc. Shes in a size bigger diaper now (claps)

Happy 1 month birthday Rosie

Rosie had her first bath today and got to kangaroo with her mom too. Shes doing good still. She is still spell free and the vapotherm is now down to 5. Blood gass was excellent today. She is still weighing at 1.13 but now is 14 inches long. Maybe she will be tall. Her nurse Amanda made her a happy birthday sign.
